PITA Group, Inc.

PITA Group Inc is a non-profit organization with a mission of helping society better understand addiction and to provide solutions to common addiction problems by upgrading the field's professionalism and helping professionals to use "best practices" in finding solutions. The PITA Group subscribes to the philosophy that the answers to most conditions are those that make common sense and, therefore support drug-free, practical alcohol and other drug programs that base their clinical technology on effectiveness; positive outcomes. PITA supports programs that truly rehabilitate addicts by enhancing their abilities to learn and helping them accomplish tasks that support their positive ideas of themselves.

In the alcohol and other drug rehab field, it isn't unusual for someone to enter treatment asking for guidance to reclaim his life and continue with the successes and bright feelings that he had before drugs were introduced into his life, but instead of gaining something as clear as that request, he is evaluated and invalidated with the idea that he has a chronic and progressive disease and, many time, he will be told that he has other diseases within that global addiction disease.

PITA Group has been in the alcohol and drug rehab field as long as there as been a rehab field and we have witnessed a time when one drunk would help another to a time when the medical community has determined that addiction is a brain disease and that there will be medications that will return addicts to their normal functioning without illicit drugs.

PITA has been fortunate enough to identify programs and philosophies that make addiction an easily understood problems that can be solved without the use of other drugs or chemicals. The PITA Group support the nutritional basis of addiction and aberrant thinking and supports individuals and programs that follow these philosophies. This attitude can be seen in its Code of Ethics, which is the guideline for its certification qualifications. (Click Here)

PITA and its Board of Directors also grants certification to those who qualify as "Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors" and/or "Certified Intervention Specialist". Click Here for more Information on Certification.

The purpose of the PITA Group in relation to this web site, is to help communicate the validity of the information that is documented within www.texas-drug-rehabs.org The President of The PITA Group, Inc. is Mac McGregor, a licensed alcohol and drug counselor with over 35 years in the alcohol and other drug treatment and prevention field. In his professional career, Mac has been the Director of a Single State Agency, which are the offices in a state that are in charge of all of the funding, licensing and inspection of alcohol and other drug rehabs and prevention programs. He has also been on staff at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical School, both at the Texas Medical Center in Houston and on the faulty of the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Mr. McGregor holds a Master in Social Work from the University of Houston and besides being a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, Mac is a Diplomate to the Board of Addiction Examiners of NAFC.

Mac has been the director of three residential treatment facilities, been a marriage and family counselor, an alcohol and drug outpatient counselor and has reviewed over 150 residential treatment programs as a consultant for the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Centers and for the PITA Group, Inc.

As of May, 2010, there are 188 PITA Group, Inc. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors and Certified Intervention Specialist, most of whom are in the U.S., but there are also certified members in Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Denmark, and Sweden. All certified professionals abide to the PITA Group Code of Ethics.

The PITA Group has been in the alcohol and drug prevention field for twenty-two years and was instrumental in the development of the certification process for prevention specialist for the State of Colorado.

PITA Group staff provide continuing education, alcohol and drug consulting and professional certification training, testing and issuing of credentials.

Over the many years that we have been in this field, since Nixon's war on drug, the government has spent over $500 billion and we are at a point now where most of the public and the government has given up on finding an answer to addiction problems.

This rehab field came from some interesting roots, but certainly not from a scientific basis, but more from a semi-religious foundation. Therefore, people continue to suffer needlessly with their addiction because they are taking professional advice that isn't founded in a discipline with sound cures and, over the years, this field of rehab has become something which PITA cannot be proud. Today, people are still filled with myths about the origins of addiction and promises of cures when the truth bares out that following these regimes will only delay ones suffering, at best, and may divide families and loved ones in the process.

The PITA Group, Inc. continues to promote truthful answers about addiction and solutions that are not confusing or targeted at profits, but are attainable by anyone that has the willingness to accept the fact that his current operating basis is making things worse and is willing to examine other ways of approaching one's life and one's ideas.

Feel free to contact the PTIA Group, Inc. at 888-781-7060, should you have any questions or comments. We would love to hear from you. If you are interested in certification, please contact Mac McGregor to set up a time for a personal interview to establish your qualifications.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
